ANGRY EARTH, by                     Poet's Biography
First Line: Angry earth, give me thy fury
Last Line: Angry earth, to outface death.
Subject(s): Death; Earth; Dead, The; World

ANGRY Earth, give me thy fury,
That when Death seeks to o'ercome me
And my brain and body bury
In his hole,
I shall rise, I shall rise.

Pain, that's like the rust of metals,
Stain upon the mind's most fairness,
Frost that wastes wind-shaking petals,
Pain the Ghost,
Death's sly ally, I shall dare.

Angry Earth, forbear sweet summer,
April softness, May's too-sweetness,
Mute be Autumn's early drummer—
Winter's strength
Give me, and his frozen heat.

Arctic Death, then, blizzard-breathing,
I shall dare, sans fear or wonder,
Icy pangs, pain's seas deep seething.
Give me fury,
Angry Earth, to outface Death.
