OCTOBER CAME AGAIN, by AVIS TURNER FRENCH First Line: My pattern made for life was good to see Last Line: To beds of brown, and silver white with frost. Subject(s): Autumn; Seasons; Fall | ||||||||
My pattern made for life was good to see, With every glowing color well in place. My threads were singing words that came to me Before the marks of sorrow left my face. I said: To strive to love and help mankind (Forgetting wistful dreams for self alone) Could liberate the lonely heart and mind; That we are owned by what we choose to own! I broke the pattern with my tears today; The leaves were rose, and gold, and amethyst; Each autumn tree was like a huge bouquet, And one who loved October was at rest. I will be brave again when leaves are tossed To beds of brown, and silver white with frost. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV SHEAF OF MEMORIES by AVIS TURNER FRENCH |
