RHYTHMIC VILLANELLE, by THEOPHILE GAUTIER Poem Explanation Poet's Biography First Line: When warmth and sunshine come again Last Line: Together found. Alternate Author Name(s): Theo, Le Bon | ||||||||
WHEN warmth and sunshine come again, And cold and gloom are gone for good, Then, Love! to pick the flowers we twain Will go together in the wood, Brushing the pearls beneath our feet, Formed of the sun and early dew, And listen to the thrushes sweet, Their song renew. Now, Love! we welcome back the Spring: This month is the true lover's tide; The bird now preens his satin wing, And sings of love his nest beside. Come, then, to the moss bank away, And how we love tell o'er and o'er, And let me hear you softly say For evermore. A long, long ramble let us take, The hidden rabbit cause to fly, And watch the stag within the lake Gaze on his antlers wide and high. Then, after long delightful hours, Homeward with fingers intertwined, Bear strawberries and forest flowers Together found. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOVE AT SEA by THEOPHILE GAUTIER AN INVITATION by THEOPHILE GAUTIER BOAT SONG by THEOPHILE GAUTIER CHRISTMAS by THEOPHILE GAUTIER CLARIMONDE by THEOPHILE GAUTIER DESOLATION by THEOPHILE GAUTIER IN FUTURO by THEOPHILE GAUTIER INTERIORS by THEOPHILE GAUTIER |
