TWILIGHT MUSINGS, by RICHARD SOLOMON GEDNEY Poet's Biography First Line: Oh, at this hour, when silently Last Line: To the life-key of thy soul! Subject(s): Memory; Silence; Thought; Time; Thinking | ||||||||
Oh, at this hour, when silently The shades of evening close around, How throbs the pulse of my life-key With pleasure, but in memory found. In the dewy twilight hour, Most my fond heart feels her power; Happy days, now pass'd away, Come before me bright and gay; Then, from memory's secret cells, Fancy brings, with potent spells, Joys that now I know no more Joys that time may yet restore. Ah! not vainly I recall Hours of bliss so lately known, For, yielding thus to Fancy's thrall, I feel their brightness still my own. Hope whispers that a happy hour The future yet may have in store, And, though unkindly fate may lour, I hope to greet thee soon once more! And, oh, let memory thoughts of me Through the moments as they roll, Bring, though severed far are we, To the life-key of thy soul! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MILLE ET UN SENTIMENTS (PREMIERS CENTS) by DENISE DUHAMEL SUNDAY AFTERNOON by CLARENCE MAJOR I BROOD ABOUT SOME CONCEPTS, FOR EXAMPLE by ALICIA SUSKIN OSTRIKER EASY LESSONS IN GEOPHAGY by KENNETH REXROTH GENTLEMEN, I ADDRESS YOU PUBLICLY by KENNETH REXROTH ON FLOWER WREATH HILL: 1 by KENNETH REXROTH ABSENCE by RICHARD SOLOMON GEDNEY AN HOUR WITH FANCY by RICHARD SOLOMON GEDNEY ASPIRATIONS TO THE INFINITE; ADDRESSED TO A FRIEND by RICHARD SOLOMON GEDNEY |
