TRIOLETS: TO HER WHOM I CALL ROSE, by
First Line: Shall I meet you again
Last Line: That I spoke thus unduly.
Subject(s): Courtship

I.

SHALL I meet you again,
As I met you last night;
Or must the refrain --
"Shall I meet you again?" --
Seek its answer in vain
From a past all too bright?
Shall I meet you again,
As I met you last night?

II.

It was foolish, I know,
But I loved you so dearly.
You had laughed at my woe, --
It was foolish, I know,
Not to leave you. Heigh-ho, --
Yes! I see it quite clearly;
It was foolish, I know, --
But I loved you so dearly.

III.

So forgive me, dear Rose,
That I spoke thus unduly,
Love says (and he knows
You'll forgive me, dear Rose)
That, perhaps, if you chose,
You can love me quite truly;
So forgive me, dear Rose,
That I spoke thus unduly.
