IRISH MEMORIES, by GEORGE ARTHUR GREENE Poet's Biography First Line: Oh, green and fresh your english sod Last Line: And he and I together. Alternate Author Name(s): Greene, G. A. | |||
Oh, green and fresh your English sod With daisies sprinkled over; But greener far were the fields I trod, And the honeyed Irish clover. Oh, well your skylark cleaves the blue To bid the sun good-morrow; He has not the bonny song I knew High over an Irish furrow. And often, often, I'm longing still, This gay and golden weather, For my father's face by an Irish hill, And he and I together. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INISFAIL by GEORGE ARTHUR GREENE MOUNTAIN VOICES by GEORGE ARTHUR GREENE ON GREAT SUGARLOAF by GEORGE ARTHUR GREENE THE PAST by GEORGE ARTHUR GREENE AUGUST FIRST by HAYDEN CARRUTH SHALL I SAY by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON WOMAN by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON THE PLACE OF PEACE by EDWIN MARKHAM THE MOTHER'S HOPE by SAMUEL LAMAN BLANCHARD MISS KILMANSEGG AND HER PRECIOUS LEG: HER MORAL by THOMAS HOOD |
