THE ELEPHANT TRIES TO RESCUE THE JACKASS, by MARSHAL E. GROVER First Line: If elphie had been slow to think Last Line: Down with autocracy. Subject(s): Elephants | ||||||||
If Elphie had been slow to think As Jackie-ass approached the brink There might have been an awful stink Around our foolish Jackie. But wise old Elphie did not fail To catch this Jackass by the tail And thus prevent an awful wail By the followers and 'filiates of Jackie. But now we're told 'Tis hard to hold This slippery tail of Jackie; But when our dear old Elphie Takes a strangle hold On this slippery tail of Jackie, You bet your life He'll not let slip But hold his grip On this slippery tail of Jackie. But assuming now That after all This Donk goes over the brink, The question then will be, I think What can we do to prevent a fall? Now, economics Will not mix With dirty, rotten politics And if we resort to some of the tricks Of some of these politicians You may be sure We then shall be In a hell of a fix (and very sick) And in need of good physicians. Come on, you patriotic band Come on, and save the people of this land And future generations With your cry: Up With Democracy And Down with Autocracy. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PETE AT THE ZOO by GWENDOLYN BROOKS DILIGENCE IS TO MAGIC AS PROGRESS IS TO FLIGHT by MARIANNE MOORE IT'S HARD TO BE AN ELEPHANT by JACK PRELUTSKY WE MUST BE POLITE: 2 by CARL SANDBURG DRAWN BY STONES, BY EARTH, BY THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN IN FIRE by MARVIN BELL THE ELEPHANT IS SLOW TO MATE by DAVID HERBERT LAWRENCE ELETELEPHONY by LAURA ELIZABETH HOWE RICHARDS |
