PARADOX, by
First Line: I have seen envy hide her pettiness
Last Line: With love's own glowing eyes.
Subject(s): Envy; Jealousy; Love

I have seen envy hide her pettiness,
Beneath a purple cloak;
And walk as proudly—in her masquerade—
As any noble folk.

And self-delusion often shrouds its face
In angel's soft disguise;
As when mad jealousy veils selfishness
With Love's own glowing eyes.
