1938 BONNETS, by ERMA HAALAND First Line: I tried on a new bonnet / it really was Last Line: My new easter hat. Subject(s): Easter; Holidays; The Resurrection | ||||||||
I tried on a new bonnet, It really was quite funny; Had ears that stuck straight up Just like an Easter bunny. So I tried another, In my side I got a stitch, Then I laughed aloud For I looked like a witch. Time went on and on Hats passed in review, With my sense of humor, I knew not what to do. Then I shut my eyes, Grabbed one -- big and flat. Now all my friends admire My new Easter hat. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...EASTER EVE by FRANCIS WILLIAM BOURDILLON EASTER SUNDAY by LUCILLE CLIFTON GOD SEND EASTER by LUCILLE CLIFTON NOT THE CUCKOLD'S DREAM; FOR SAM PEREIRA by NORMAN DUBIE EASTER HYMN by GEORGE SANTAYANA I DEFINE THE DARKNESS CORRECT: THE FESTIVAL OF THE FRERES LUMIERES by ELENI SIKELIANOS SPANISH EASTER: 1926 by CONRAD AIKEN ODE TO A HUMAN HEART by SAMUEL LAMAN BLANCHARD |
