First Line: Why his wife deserted him, he simply couldn't see
Last Line: Saying that in nature she saw god!
Subject(s): Nature

Why his wife deserted him, he simply couldn't see;
But then, he said, her ways had been so odd:
Tramping through the April woods bare-headed in the rain,
Pointing at a blazing sunset with a cry of pain,
Talking softly to the snow-birds while she fed them grain,
Staring, mouth wide open, at a twisted, barren tree;
Saying that in Nature she saw God!
