THE LIGHT THAT NEVER DIES, by                    
First Line: From boyhood to manhood we grow
Last Line: It is the light which never dies.

From boyhood to manhood we grow,
And the past becomes but a dim memory
As out into the wide world we go,
Anxious for adventure, strange sights to see.

For years we travel that weary way
Leading us through lands afar.
Adventure, strange sights we see each day,
At night we gaze at each lonely star.

Someday, a guiding star will lead us home,
To the only place of real happiness
And no more will we want to roam.
To our mothers our sins we will confess.

And like the greatest pal we ever knew—
She'll gently forgive and love us still.
She says, "Remember the unbroken commandments few,
Especially, that which says, "thou shalt not kill."

But even though we forget her commands,
And kill in a moment of madness,
As we pay the penalty the law demands—
We know she'll love us not a bit less.

At last we know the greatest thing in life
Is the lovelight in our mother's eyes—
Forever there through sorrow, pain or strife
It is the light which never dies.
