THE ESSENTIAL BLESSEDNESS OF GOD, by FRANCES RIDLEY HAVERGAL Poet's Biography First Line: O glorious god and king Last Line: Thy glory all unveiled to see! Subject(s): God | ||||||||
O GLORIOUS God and King, O gracious Father, hear The praise our hearts would bring To Thee, who, ever near, Yet in eternity dost dwell, Immortal and invisible. Around Thee all is light, And rest of perfect love, And glory full and bright, All human thought above. Thyself the Fountain infinite Of all ineffable delight. O depth of holy bliss, Essential and divine, What thought can measure this, -- Thy joy, Thy glory, -- Thine! Yet such our treasure evermore, Thy fullness is Thy children's store. O Father, Thy great grace We magnify and praise; Called to that blessed place, With Thee through endless days Thy joy to share, Thy joy to be, Thy glory all unveiled to see! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE MOUNTAIN IS STRIPPED by DAVID IGNATOW AS CLOSE AS BREATHING by MARK JARMAN UNHOLY SONNET 1 by MARK JARMAN UNHOLY SONNET 13 by MARK JARMAN BIRTH-DUES by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE SILENT SHEPHERDS by ROBINSON JEFFERS GOING TO THE HORSE FLATS by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONSECRATION HYMN by FRANCES RIDLEY HAVERGAL I DID THIS FOR THEE!
