First Line: How can I go before the grapes are purple
Last Line: You have the wind, and sea gulls, and the lake.
Subject(s): Farewell; Parting

How can I go before the grapes are purple,
Leaving the asters only half in bloom,
And every maple hoarding unborn scarlet
To startle some gray autumn afternoon?

How can I put them all beyond my touching?
Isn't there one small splendor I may take?
One of these willow trees? You'd never miss it.
You have the wind, and sea gulls, and the lake.
