KAPIOLANI CONTRASTS, by STELLA M. HOOGS First Line: I hear motors roar Last Line: Remembering sadness. | |||
I hear motors roar, sharp propellers split the silent sky, and underneath, the ocean breaks in endless sobbing. Plucking the air, a siren rockets by, mufflers detonate, tires shriek, a soft wind shakes the delicate castanets of a palm leaf. Children's voices, the park at noon, drowsy, birds quarelling, and ironwoods, strings muted, remembering sadness. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TO BETSY AGED THREE by STELLA M.
