EVEN THE LEAVES, by SCOTT HORTON First Line: No blighting frost has fallen Last Line: Harsh voices prophesying. Subject(s): Autumn; Leaves; Seasons; Fall | ||||||||
No blighting frost has fallen -- The sun is warm, Wind riffles from the south. In the garden butterflies hover low. And yet leaves are turning yellow; Now and then two or three of them Let go and tumble down. Like flecks of winter sunshine They lie among the fading grasses, Crackling with every step we take: Harsh voices prophesying. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV |
