NIGHT MOOD, by DOROTHY WHITEHEAD HOUGH First Line: I arose and went out into the night Last Line: To my soul. Subject(s): Peace; Serenity | ||||||||
I arose and went out into the night. What sought ye? Peace and the comforting light Of the stars. Beneath the stars what found ye? Cloudssoft, luminous Floating with calm serenity Before the moon. The moon! What message had she? A still voice Whispering, "Peace"borne to me By the breeze. Ah! The night winddid it sigh? It sang softly In the dark trees above, towering high To my soul. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MIDSUMMER IN THE CATSKILLS by JOHN BURROUGHS THE WEST by PEARL V.
