LIGHTS AND SHADOWS, by MRS HUNOLDSTEIN CHARLES First Line: How like a canvas our lives are placed Last Line: That the great master artist our lives may approve. Subject(s): Art & Artists | ||||||||
How like a canvas our lives are placed, And by the Master's brush are traced. Sometimes we see the sun shining so brightly, Fleecy clouds float round us ever so lightly. Our cup of joy is full to o'erflowing, And only the silver lining is showing. Again there are days filled with anguish and pain -- Long, dreary days with their unceasing rain, When we yearn, oh, so keenly, for a tomorrow That will bring kind relief from a heartbreaking sorrow. But a picture must have shadows and lights to portray The dream of the artist -- Lord grant that we may Be submissive in sorrow and grateful for love, That the Great Master Artist our lives may approve. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE OLD AND THE NEW MASTERS by RANDALL JARRELL TO A YOUNG ARTIST by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS ART VS.
