I bring a tear-wet rose to you, -- too late. So futile is it now. Why did I wait? There was a time when roses might have been The soft sweet perfume of the spring to you. Now let them be the red blood of my heart, Atonement for the things I meant to do. Now I kneel weeping, mourning alone, Praying, in some strange mysterious way That you may know, and knowing, understand The rosebud that I bring to you today. So futile is it now.
