FEAR-FLAME, by WINIFRED VIRGINIA JACKSON Poet's Biography First Line: Is it any wonder Last Line: To visit with god. Subject(s): Fear; Flowers; God; Prayer; Roses | ||||||||
Is it any wonder, Hating dust, I cling to my cheesecloth And family crust? Is it any wonder That I burn With fear of dark-dust When I return? Tuck some red roses In my hand, And pray a little prayer Where you stand, When I am sleeping, For I may know You are late for dinner And want to go. But I will not worry: Green is the sod And I may not wait long To visit with God. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE WHISPER OF THE ROSE by EDMUND JOHN ARMSTRONG THE WISDOM OF THE ROSE by ELSA BARKER LOVE PLANTED A ROSE by KATHARINE LEE BATES ROSES; A VILANELLE by LOUISA SARAH BEVINGTON THE PAINTER ON SILK by AMY LOWELL VARIATIONS: 17 by CONRAD AIKEN WORDS IN A CERTAIN APPROPRIATE MODE by HAYDEN CARRUTH A WITCH'S DAUGHTER AND A COBBLER'S SON by WINIFRED VIRGINIA JACKSON |
