GATHERINGS, by MYRTLE JOHNS First Line: I am a gatherer of beauty Last Line: Yet they are whole to pass on to you. Subject(s): Beauty | ||||||||
I am a gatherer of beauty, The beauty of leaves shivering before a storm, Of hills holding themselves aloof in simple grace, Of the quiet glide of waters in roadside brooks, Of streams of moonlight anchored across a lake, Of deluded stars as they make their escape and steal earthward, Of the realization of day by the birds' sweet harmony, Of the soothing embrace of the wind and the sun, Of the darkness that brings with it peaceful rest. All of these have I taken into myself, Yet they are whole to pass on to you. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN DIVINELY SUPERFLUOUS BEAUTY by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE BEAUTY OF THINGS by ROBINSON JEFFERS HOPE IS NOT FOR THE WISE by ROBINSON JEFFERS LIFE FROM THE LIFELESS by ROBINSON JEFFERS REARMAMENT by ROBINSON JEFFERS SHANE ONEILLS CAIRN by ROBINSON JEFFERS |
