DILEMMA, by ORRICK JOHNS Poet's Biography First Line: What though the moon should come Last Line: Out of all words new. | |||
What though the moon should come With a blinding glow, And the stars have a game On the wood's edge, A man would have to still Cut and weed and sow, And lay a white line When he plants a hedge. What though God With a great sound of rain Came to talk of violets And things people do, I would have to labor And dig with my brain Still to get a truth Out of all words new. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE INTERPRETER by ORRICK JOHNS MITHRIDATES by RALPH WALDO EMERSON REBEL COLOR-BEARERS AT SHILOH by HERMAN MELVILLE A SUMMER NIGHT by MATTHEW ARNOLD A CHARACTER by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD L'AMOUR DU MENSONGE by CHARLES BAUDELAIRE ON THE EVE OF DEPARTURE FROM O-- by MATILDA BARBARA BETHAM-EDWARDS |
