Sometimes my mother confesses, If she smiles when she's making my clo'se, That she's sewing fond hopes in my dresses, And weaving sweet dreams as she sews. And so, when I'm stitching and mending, And all my doll's dresses I sew, I smile to myself while pretending The things they will do when they grow. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN CHILDREN SELECTING BOOKS IN A LIBRARY by RANDALL JARRELL COME TO THE STONE ... by RANDALL JARRELL THE LOST WORLD by RANDALL JARRELL A SICK CHILD by RANDALL JARRELL CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS ON THE DEATH OF FRIENDS IN CHILDHOOD by DONALD JUSTICE THE POET AT SEVEN by DONALD JUSTICE A BABY AT THE PARTY by BURGES JOHNSON |
