The dreamborn soul
Of yesterday;
I am the hope
Of true Love's birth, --
The Man in Chains.

I am the star
Whose light descends
Beneath the sea;
I am the rose
Whose perfume lives
Beyond the years.

I am thy rod,
I am thy staff,
O brothers pale;
For thee I live,
For thee I die,
O brothers mine.
