FLAX SEEDS IN BLOSSOM, by LOUISE A. JOHNSON First Line: Graciously smiling, the heavens were generous Last Line: Heaven-like! Beautiful! Flowering flax! Variant Title(s): Flax Fields In Blossom Subject(s): Angels; Heaven; Paradise | ||||||||
Graciously smiling, the heavens were generous, Gazing on mortals, earth-bound, here below; Scattered their azure, and violet and silver Over the fields where the flax blossoms grow. Speak not of riches, utility, comfort, Time enough yet for material things. Pause and behold here this vision of beauty, Soft in its tinting as angels' bright wings. No garish colors nor strong vivid contrasts, Its dainty coloring no beauty lacks. Lovely, ethereal, soothing, entrancing, Heaven-like! beautiful! flowering flax! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE END OF LIFE by PHILIP JAMES BAILEY SEVEN TWILIGHTS: 6 by CONRAD AIKEN THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#19): 2.
