THE UNKNOWN WAY, by E. B. KAY First Line: I knew the way, but somehow I have lost it Last Line: Leaves ageless, countless memories behind? Subject(s): Despair | ||||||||
I knew the way, but somehow I have lost it; Faint inklings come from many ageless days. The babblings all around have confused me, And I have sought in other devious ways. O spirit of that larger realm, Lift up my self that I may see a-right; My feeble efforts to see clearly Seem in vain, for to me 'tis night. What kingdom have I lost that I should be so sad? Far greater joys exist; some wonderful Companionship I know I've had. What strange darkness is this that gathers o'er the mind And makes us see one little span, Leaves ageless, countless memories behind? | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE DAY THAT WAS THAT DAY by AMY LOWELL MAN IN THE STREET OR HAND OVER MOUTH by HEATHER MCHUGH BURIAL RITES by HAYDEN CARRUTH THE CAMPS; FOR MARILYN HACKER by HAYDEN CARRUTH GOOD-BYE DOROTHY GAYLE: THE ROAD TO BUFFALO by KAREN SWENSON |
