CADENZA DIMINUENDO, by LILLIAN LOGAN KEAN First Line: There came the trembling of a tune Last Line: The two red apples fell. Subject(s): Music & Musicians | ||||||||
There came the trembling of a tune from strings of silver telling how the chilled and frosted afternoon felt loth to lose the singing bough. Thrushes lingering late had flown, orchards gleaned of ripened fruit, save two red apples strung alone, untouched, intact and absolute. Air grew still as daylight pined, soft clouds were gathered in the west like curtains of rose-velvet lined with saffron in a room of rest. There came the trembling of a tune, a faint and far-away farewell... Cut by the sickle of the moon, the two red apples fell. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LINER NOTES TO AN IMAGINARY PLAYLIST by TERRANCE HAYES VARIATIONS: 13 by CONRAD AIKEN BELIEVE, BELIEVE by BOB KAUFMAN ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT by BOB KAUFMAN MUSIC by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES THE POWER OF MUSIC by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES |
