You chose secure delight who so combined With lusty fellowship bright solitude, A clockless room where the untemporal mind Attentive only to the common good Searched the dark chemistry of being; sought From the long vigil power against our pain Counting each flickered indication caught, Truth's cloudy hint, an incandescent gain. You found this enviable recompense: Remembrance, unextinguished by the grave, Its flame implanted in our bone, our breath, Burning in quickened hands. Here where you gave To life more life, your gift will even hence Ride in the memoried cell defying death. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE DOCTOR WHO SITS AT THE BEDSIDE OF A RAT by JOSEPHINE MILES EL CURANDERO (THE HEALER) by RAFAEL CAMPO HER FINAL SHOW by RAFAEL CAMPO SONG FOR MY LOVER: 13.
