CLOSED DOOR, by KATE KIRKHAM First Line: When you went on beyond the fast closed door Last Line: Will you wait? For coming I shall need your hand. | |||
When you went on beyond the fast closed door, In vain I waited, hoping to catch a sound. But now I know, it will open never more. Pondering, I wonder what you have found. Was there glorious light, beyond earth's compare? Once we spoke of this, thinking how it would be When the hour struck, and one of us went there. But the shadow then was too far to see. By the hearth I watch the flames leap and flare, The bright room fills with memories as dear As your familiar step upon the stair. But the closed door! Ah, then dark night is here! Friend of my soul, in the dim spirit land Will you wait? For coming I shall need your hand. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? by PAUL VERLAINE CONSECRATION HYMN by FRANCES RIDLEY HAVERGAL LIMERICK by FRANK GELETT BURGESS DISSONANCES by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON IN THE PLACE DE LA BASTILLE by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON THE NAME by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON |
