IN LIFE IT MUST BE TOLD, by ERICH S. KLOSSNER Poet's Biography First Line: This is their day, those valiant sons who died Last Line: In life war's masquerade must be disclosed! | |||
This is their day, those valiant sons who died On "fields of honor", Bunker Hill, Bull Run, Argonne ... exploited epics, glorified For awed posterity. A cause, a gun, To rout God-given faculties from being -- Honor? Glory? Spur the conscience, all Who bide these flimsy vestments! Fleeing Mars' daft sacrifice, dare ride or fall Astride sane protest: Not by death alone Shall valor serve! We choose no hallowed grave In hushed subservience to lords who stone Our peace with subterfuge. In death the brave Are impotent to plead, or stand opposed -- In life war's masquerade must be disclosed! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE NEW HOUSE by ERICH S.
