WOMAN'S SONG, by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV Poet's Biography First Line: Winds are blowing Last Line: Sorrow's no sorrow. | |||
WINDS are blowing, Rough winds boisterous, Clouds advancing, Cloudy darknesses; And the bright world Disappears wholly, And the fair sun Disappears wholly. In the damp mist Nought but vaporous Night behind it Comes on darkening. In this season Of foul weather Living alone Gives the heart a chill. What he needs is Another bosom, A burning soul, A fair maiden. With her, winter Is warm summer, In bad fortune Sorrow's no sorrow. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AN OLD MAN'S SONG by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV OLD MAN'S SONG by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV SONG by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV THE NIGHTINGALE by ALEXEY (ALEXIE) VASSILIEVICH KOLTSOV DICKENS IN CAMP by FRANCIS BRET HARTE GRACE FOR CHILDREN by ROBERT HERRICK A SHROPSHIRE LAD: 48 by ALFRED EDWARD HOUSMAN THE HOUSE OF LIFE: 23.
