STRUCTURE, by CAROLINE MAXWELL LEE First Line: Against the primrose twilight rise outspread Last Line: Reveals the grace implicit in his kind. | ||||||||
Against the primrose twilight rise outspread The lacy fans of unleafed winter trees; I mark from trunk to outmost dusky thread The structure, perfect as a symphony's. Below the earth, as mirrored in a pool -- Reversed in stem and tendril-coils, that bear The rising sap, life giving, strong and cool -- The roots repeat the structure of the air. Soon fluttered curls and ruffles of young leaves Will flute along each air-swept arc, to free In opulence of summer's plumy sheaves The splendor destined to the perfect tree; As one who, strong of soul and great of mind, Reveals the grace implicit in his kind. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE FAMINE YEAR by JANE FRANCESCA WILDE LAURENCE BLOOMFIELD IN IRELAND: 7.
