GIVE ME FLOWERS NOW, by NETTA LINDSEY First Line: Why must you wait to bring flowers to me Last Line: Nor a costly monument placed at my head. Subject(s): Cemeteries; Death; Flowers; Love; Sympathy; Graveyards; Dead, The; Empathy | ||||||||
Why must you wait to bring flowers to me Till my eyes are closed and I can not see? Why must you wait till I am dead For all your kind words to be said? I want to see and smell your flowers; Your kind words would ease my lonely hours. I want your love and friendship now; Why wait till death's hand has touched my brow? It may be that after I am dead There will be things you'll wish were said. Give me now a few words of cheer To brighten the days that are dark and drear; I do not want flowers after I'm dead Nor a costly monument placed at my head. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SYMPATHY by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON WORDS TO JOE CERAVOLO by RON PADGETT SYMPATHY (2) by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR SYMPATHY by HENRY DAVID THOREAU MISPLACED SYMPATHY by CHARLES FOLLEN ADAMS QUATORZAINS: 10.
