IN MY DREAMS, by ANNIE ELIZABETH LOOMIS First Line: In that far off, mysterious realm which we call dreamland Last Line: Oh, blessed night, when I can sleep -- and dream -- and see! Subject(s): Dreams; Fantasy; Life; Sleep; Nightmares | ||||||||
In that far off, mysterious realm which we call dreamland, Where sometimes things fantastic are -- and sometimes real as life itself, I gladly stay. For there the veiling mist which dims my waking eyes is swept away. Faces of those I loved through all the years, and those not less beloved now, come to me crystal-clear. My heart beats high with happiness. All that made me rich -- books, pictures, trees, flowers, birds, wide views of Nature's loveliness, The finest works of God and man, are mine again. Once more I joy in living. Oh, blessed night, when I can sleep -- and dream -- and see! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN VARIATIONS: 18 by CONRAD AIKEN LIVE IT THROUGH by DAVID IGNATOW A DREAM OF GAMES by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE DREAM OF WAKING by RANDALL JARRELL APOLOGY FOR BAD DREAMS by ROBINSON JEFFERS GIVE YOUR WISH LIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS |
