A LITTLE of your art forbear!
Life has not taught you pity yet.
A little of your sweetness spare;
So much you give me—to forget.

Yet smile, for heaven can bear to see;
Smile to your angel.—But refuse
These ignorant earthly eyes. To me
Give less, give less of heaven to lose.
