NEGLIGENT of hurt,
In heroic guise,
Peacefully alert,
With his onward eyes,

Through the heart of pain,
To the front of strife,
Love, with loosened rein,
Spurs the laggard life.

Such a strength in man
He can force or find,
Lovers in the van
Leave the world behind.
