IT'S 65 BELOW, by WINIFRED S. MACDONALD First Line: The trees are draped with icicles Last Line: At 65 below! Subject(s): Winter | ||||||||
The trees are draped with icicles, The ground is deep in snow, It's way too cold for mushing dogs -- It's 65 below! Give me a nice warm cabin, A pot of coffee, too, And hotcakes with my bacon While the flames roar up the flue. The dogs are glad to stay at home At 65 below! They're filled with fish and tallow And sleeping in the snow. My parka hangs beside the door, My mukluks and my mitts, I'll stay indoors Until it thaws And winter says he quits. For the sky has two old dogs And the frost shines on the snow -- It's much too cold For mushing dogs At 65 below! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOOKING EAST IN THE WINTER by JOHN HOLLANDER WINTER DISTANCES by FANNY HOWE WINTER FORECAST by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN AT WINTER'S EDGE by JUDY JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 34 by JAMES JOYCE DRUMS AND BRASS by DONALD (GRADY) DAVIDSON |
