First Line: Okay, today I'm the teacher

Okay, today I'm the teacher.
This is related to all energy.
Watch the horse's eye flutter
just above the buckle
on the headstall. See, it is
an attempt to resolve the conflict
out of which all beauty
and glory come flying like birds.
Everything comes down
to the inexact position
from which things are measured.
Peck and pint.
Day and decade.
The curbing and the explosion.
Center and edge.
Flux vortex reflex solar cycle.
A train on a track running late.
Think of maps and miles,
think of gravity.
Even crutches propped under
performers after war
to keep them from falling out
of their own exhausted bodies
are first measured to fit.
Gravity can be measured precisely.
Think of a nun in the prayer position.
She is in conflict with gravity.
Conflict can be measured precisely.
This is as close as we can get.
And this is as close as we need to be.
