ANOTHER FAN (OF MADEMOISELLE MALLARME), by STEPHANE MALLARME Poet's Biography First Line: O dreamy one, that I may plunge Last Line: Against the fire of a bracelet. Subject(s): Fans | ||||||||
O dreamy one, that I may plunge To the pure unchanneled delight, Know how to tend my wing, By a subtle fiction, in your hand. Each pulse of my throbbing Brings the cool wind of dusk. Each imprisoned beat Delicately defers the horizon. Vertigo! Now space trembles Like an unaccepted kiss which, crazed By its huge birth and loss of lips, Can neither burst nor yet subside. O sense the paradise Shy as buried laughter Flowing from the corner of your mouth Through the deep unanimous fold! The scepter of roseate shores Stilled on evenings of gold, this it is, This closed white fluttering which you put Against the fire of a bracelet. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BLACK LACE FAN MY MOTHER GAVE ME by EAVAN BOLAND ON FINDING A FAN by GEORGE GORDON BYRON A PAINTED FAN by LOUISE CHANDLER MOULTON A JAPANESE FAN by MARGARET VELEY WRITTEN ON THE LEAVES OF A FAN by FRANCIS ATTERBURY ON A FAN by MATILDA BARBARA BETHAM-EDWARDS THE POMPADOUR'S FAN by HENRY AUSTIN DOBSON FOR A FAN by RICHARD WATSON GILDER BALLADE OF THE FAN by WILLIAM FREDERICK KIRK A FRAGMENT by STEPHANE MALLARME A THROW OF THE DICE NEVER WILL ABOLISH CHANCE by STEPHANE MALLARME |
