A LITTLE POCKET, by NINA MANLEY First Line: I know a little pocket in the hills! Last Line: I know a little pocket in the hills! -- Subject(s): Mountains; Hills; Downs (great Britain) | ||||||||
I know a little pocket in the hills! Where under friendly sun I linger lone, Erase the words and ways of maddening men, And revel with my own. These joyous hills, they are my very own, And this, my private patch of placid sky, This passive slope receives me, it is mine; Let no one tread close by. The dreaming grass engulfs me, and I steep My heart in tranquil ease, forget all ills; Ah, gracious hour of sweet, suspended life, -- I know a little pocket in the hills! -- | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CALIFORNIA SORROW: MOUNTAIN VIEW by MARY KINZIE CONTRA MORTEM: THE MOUNTAIN FASTNESS by HAYDEN CARRUTH GREEN MOUNTAIN IDYL by HAYDEN CARRUTH IF IT WERE NOT FOR YOU by HAYDEN CARRUTH |
