OLD NUNS' TALK, by SISTER MARGARET First Line: I do not fear for margaret Last Line: It will be spring forever in her mind. Subject(s): Old Age | ||||||||
I do not fear for Margaret. All their thoughts of her Are autumn reveries of brown leaves dropping And powdered apples clustering on the boughs. Forgotten spring as if it never blossomed Hints of deep winter and the death of snow; I do not fear for Margaret. It was October when she first knew earth, And after darkness it was late July; She shall be old forever. And I know It will be spring forever in her mind. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AT EIGHTY I CHANGE MY VIEW by DAVID IGNATOW FAWN'S FOSTER-MOTHER by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE DEER LAY DOWN THEIR BONES by ROBINSON JEFFERS OLD BLACK MEN by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON A WINTER ODE TO THE OLD MEN OF LUMMUS PARK, / MIAMI, FLORIDA by DONALD JUSTICE AFTER A LINE BY JOHN PEALE BISHOP by DONALD JUSTICE TO HER BODY, AGAINST TIME by ROBERT KELLY |
