RETURN, by WINIFRED K. MARICLE First Line: An april dusk she may return Last Line: Of one who grieves. Subject(s): Mourning; Bereavement | ||||||||
An April dusk she may return To linger near a favored spot And bend above a rose she Might have plucked. No sound of footfall There will be, No words outspoken -- Only the perfume Of a shadow flower she wears; A whispered snatch of song On wind that stirs quiet leaves And cools the tear-wet cheek Of one who grieves. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HUNGERFIELD by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE MOURNER by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN HECUBA MOURNS by MARILYN NELSON THERE IS NO GOD BUT by AGHA SHAHID ALI IF I COULD MOURN LIKE A MOURNING DOVE by FRANK BIDART BLIZZARD by WINIFRED K.
