TO A PINE TREE, by LEILA W. MARSHALL First Line: Upon the hill you stand alone Last Line: To worship him with song and praise. Subject(s): Birds; Moon; Pine Trees; Trees | ||||||||
Upon the hill you stand alone For everyone to see. A king, who rests upon his throne, You nod and wave most graciously, Your branches play most musically Soft lullabies, with birds and breeze; You whisper tunes with other trees. You talk to stars through branches tall; You wake the moon so free With bounteous love for all; You teach us true nobility; You stand erect in majesty, Like a temple reared in olden times With music soft of distant chimes: To breathe a prayer for all our days, To worship Him with song and praise. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE PROBLEM OF DESCRIBING TREES by ROBERT HASS THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MIDNIGHT EDEN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN REFLECTION OF THE WOOD by LEONIE ADAMS THE LIFE OF TREES by DORIANNE LAUX O GLORIOUS FRANCE by EDGAR LEE MASTERS |
