GRAY APRIL, by MARY FRANCES MARTIN First Line: Is it april, these gray days Last Line: April! April! Is this you? Alternate Author Name(s): Cearnach, Conal Subject(s): April; Rain; Spring | ||||||||
Is it April, these gray days Wrapped in fog and fringed with rain? All is lost in misty haze Just beyond my window-pane. The willows droopdim, shadowy, gray, And all my hills are hidden away. Silvery threads of rain slip down Slant-wise through the fragrant air, Wisps of fog the maples crown, Clinging, wraithlike, everywhere. Gone the days of gold and blue, April! April!
