MEMORIES, by MRS. R. E. MCLAUGHLIN First Line: You cannot take from me the memories of old Last Line: The love of the things that bring pleasure to you. Subject(s): Memory | ||||||||
You cannot take from me the memories of old, As they come to me through the mist. The prattle and charm of the little ones come, And with them come triumph and bliss. We loved them so much and each little ill Was easily healed with a kiss. And as they go forth in their homes to abide, I pray, they let God be their Saviour and guide. I cherish the thought of the days gone by, My heart has been steadfast and true. There's still one sweet thought that I cherish the most, The love of the things that bring pleasure to you. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MEMORY AS A HEARING AID by TONY HOAGLAND THE SAME QUESTION by JOHN HOLLANDER FORGET HOW TO REMEMBER HOW TO FORGET by JOHN HOLLANDER ON THAT SIDE by LAWRENCE JOSEPH MEMORY OF A PORCH by DONALD JUSTICE BEYOND THE HUNTING WOODS by DONALD JUSTICE |
