FACING THE WALL, by MRS. R. A. MEDLAM First Line: I seem to be chasing a will-o-the-wisp Last Line: A ladder over that wall. Subject(s): Courage; Faith; Fights; Valor; Bravery; Belief; Creed | ||||||||
I seem to be chasing a will-o-the-wisp, Though I try again and again, Hope buoys me up and on faith I ride To be rudely cast on realities' tide, Or dashed head-on with a bleak stonewall Where everything seems in vain. Yet I guess it's better To have fought and failed Than never to have tried at all. Oh, for the courage the faith to make A ladder over that wall. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 4 by MARK JARMAN QUIA ABSURDUM by ROBINSON JEFFERS GOING TO THE HORSE FLATS by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET TO FORTUNE by LUCY AIKEN JONATHAN EDWARDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS by ROBERT LOWELL RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION by MINA LOY WINTER'S SNOW by MRS.
