SLEET IN HEAVEN, by
First Line: I will not think heaven's a resting place
Last Line: How can I ever hope to enter in?
Subject(s): Heaven; Paradise

I will not think heaven's a resting place
Where always the beneficent sun smiles.
The elements are not barred from heaven;
Rain's no uncommon visitant there.

O ecstatic snow, invigorating rain,
Exultant wind, musical hail, fierce sleet,
You strong spirits, beautiful and free --
Not heir to men's legacy of petty faults --

If heaven is shut to such as you,
How can I ever hope to enter in?
