BABY, by                    
First Line: Baby smiled today
Last Line: Wept!

Baby smiled today,
Her first wee smile,
And all the room was brightened
For awhile!

Baby spoke today,
Her first soft word,
And everyone within the cottage
Heard!

Baby walked today
So shaky stepped,
And mother, watching closely, quietly,
Wept!
