OUT of his life she will go quietly So soft her going that he will not guess Withdrawal from him of her tenderness ... She will put barriers he cannot see Between thembar him imperceptibly. ... And he will wonderwhen she sees him less If there is something she does not express, Or, manlike, charge her with inconstancy! In time, it will come naturallythe end, But not in anger! He will call her friend Who once was more, ah, more! He will not know What it has cost her quietly to go, He will not dream it was his love that died!
