PRAYER FOR AN ADOLESCENT, by MONA MOORE First Line: God - he is at crisis! Last Line: The pulse of the universe is taking form. Subject(s): Adolescence; Teen Agers | ||||||||
God -- he is at crisis! I, his mother, stand back useless -- yearning -- Dark whorls of manhood roll about his feet, He hesitates -- In the air hangs a slender word His word -- God, let him hear it! May he remember his childhood, The simple things sweet and sincere: Sunrise, summer days long and happy, The twilight hour and its mystery; May he remember the nights and the lightning And the tragedy of pain. When wild desire surges in his blood, God, help him to know The pulse of the universe is taking form. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN by DORIANNE LAUX PORTRAIT OF A GIRL WITH COMIC BOOK by PHYLLIS MCGINLEY THE ONE GIRL AT THE BOYS PARTY by SHARON OLDS CHERRYLOG ROAD by JAMES DICKEY BROTHER AND SISTER by MARY ANN EVANS ADOLESCENCE by MAVIS CLARE BARNETT FAUST: SCENE 1.
