RUSSIAN ART SHOP, by LOUISE HOVDE MORTENSEN First Line: Here's jewelry from russia Last Line: For every woman's glance. Subject(s): Jewelry & Jewelers; Russia; Soviet Union; Russians | ||||||||
Here's jewelry from Russia, Garnets in a star, Emeralds and opals From the palace of the Czar. Rings of silver filigree For little lobes, and bright Bracelets set with ruby flame With clasps of marcasite Necklaces of amethysts, Crosses, ebony, Brooches carved of malachite, Rings, chalcedony. Where are all the countesses Whose jewelry we see? Some were buried by the Don And some by the Black Sea. They'll go no more to Yalta now, To dine and flirt and dance, And here their jewels glisten still For every woman's glance. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OXOTA: A SHORT RUSSIAN NOVEL: CHAPTER 259 by LYN HEJINIAN A FOREIGN COUNTRY by JOSEPHINE MILES THE DIAMOND PERSONA by NORMAN DUBIE IN MEMORIAM: 1933 (7.
